My daughter’s job has her travel a lot. So, I’m always praying, “Please God, guard and protect her.”
She was in California, and with several days off, she decided to go to the national park to hike. She isn’t a big person, but she is “woman” and thinks she can do anything on her own!
I didn’t know she was on this hike alone, but I suddenly felt the need to pray for her.
Meanwhile, she was sitting on a rock in the middle of the park pathway reading a map to see just where this path would take her.
She seemed to hear a lot of voices talking, but paid no attention.
Suddenly, she hears this loud whisper, “Excuse me! Excuse me!
Bear! Bear!”
A group of people on a ledge above her was trying to get her attention, trying to alert her of a bear down the path coming right towards her!
She jumps up, grabs her backpack and steps off the path in front of the bear and heads directly towards him.
Her thoughts were “if I try to escape by going the bear’s way, he will be following me; but if I go towards him, there are twenty or so people watching and they can help me!”
The bear and my daughter pass each other about five foot apart. He starts to stop on the path, begins to turn, and she yells “NO BEAR! NO!”
Instead, he walks to her rock, gets on the path…and goes on! She stops to take a photo of his backside! Later, she told me he was a small black bear with an ear tag.
I realized my ability to protect my loved ones is limited, but God’s ability is not! All praise to God, who provided my daughter with a warning whisper from above! Her Guardian Angels? Maybe! (I know somehow He answered my prayers for her protection!)
God provides in mysterious ways and he loves my children more than I do!
