The Sabbath was warm, and Sister Ludmilla Benda thought the hungry street-people patrons of Father Conroy’s Vineyard of Hope needed a treat. It would be a hot job, but she went downtown to the church. She and her helpers would fry 40 pounds of bacon to make a hundred BLT sandwiches.
“The BLT’s went over really big! We were running low on food, even before all that bacon was fried,” said Sister Luddy.
Out of nowhere, some benevolent guy shows up, balancing big platters of sliced meat and buns.
“I wish I knew who he was! He just came in and handed the people those platters and hurried away,” Luddy said. “It was just in time before the BLT’s ran out! Everyone left with full tummies.”
“Angels drop in from unexpected places,” she lifted her hands in thanksgiving and sighed greatfully.
