This is my Memorial Poem for Daddy. I pray that you ‘live it’ with me…
Just as if you had been there…
"Daddy, Are You Ready To Go?
“Daddy, are you ready to go?”
He slowly nodded his head,
So we laid him in his bed,
And as he closed his weary eyes,
It was to no one’s sad surprise,
Right in front of us,
Right in front of me,
He quietly slipped into eternity.
He had a good life,
My Dad of ninety four,
He Was a gentle man, a God’ly man,
Who loved his children more.
An illness took him down
That cold December night,
This gentle man, this God’ly man
Was on a path to Heaven’s light.
He tried so very hard
To overcome this adversity,
The nursing home he went to
Became his university.
(Bridge)
But he knew, he knew his time was soon
He said “Tell everyone good-bye”
He knew his time was soon.
He learned more about his Jesus
And that was in our Father’s plan.
Because He was softly calling Daddy,
This gentle, Godl’y man.
Daddy said he talked to God one night
He quoted scripture so I’d know,
“There’s a time to live and a time to die”,
And it’s time for me to go…
“Daddy, are you ready to go?”
He slowly nodded his head,
So we laid him in his bed,
And as he closed his weary eyes,
It was to no one’s sad surprise,
Right in front of us,
Right in front of me,
He quietly slipped into eternity.
